Our featured client of the month, Sean is a CPA living in Orlando Florida. What amazes us about Sean’s story is, that by speaking with one of his clients about diversifying into real estate, he was able to gain control of his retirement.

Sean loves to invest in notes and loaning money for new investments such as a real estate project or short -term working capital for small startups. Through his line of work as a CPA, Sean comes into contact with many reputable borrowers seeking small loans with which they can’t otherwise get from the bank. To the borrower’s advantage they are able to access cash faster and easier than going to the bank for a loan. Sean says the time-frame is typically under one year with an average return of 10-15% which is higher than the stock market. He likes investing in notes because he has greater control of the time-frame and feels they are less risky than other investments. Being in control of his investments and the ability to hold tax-free alternative investments are his favorite aspects of self-directing his retirement funds.
According the Sean (and we have to agree), “you should always invest in what you’re comfortable with!” Sean explains that “being in the middle of my career with the world in front of me right now gives me plenty of room to continue growing my retirement holdings.”
We asked if he had any tips for fellow self-directors…Sean: “I cannot stress this enough, you should work with knowledgeable professionals that can guide you when needed and keep you out of harm’s way. NuView certainly has a professional staff that is willing to go beyond expectations.”
